Food for Families: a statewide food bank serving 300 church and community hunger organizations

Food For Kids. Backpacks of food and supplies are sent home with children having problems in school due to hunger at home.

Habitat for Humanity Pulaski County

hfhlogoHabitat is an ecumenical Christian housing ministry that seeks to put belief into action by working in partnership with God’s people to create a decent habitat in which to live and work. Habitat’s mission is to eliminate substandard housing while providing simple, decent housing to qualified low-income families.  Volunteer opportunities include:

Construction/Deconstruction Volunteers:
Construction assignments can include framing, roofing, siding installation, insulation installation, and finishing interior work.  No skill sets are necessary to volunteer with Habitat. We teach on site and provide all of the necessary tools and safety equipment.  Deconstruction occurs when a structure is donated to Habitat but not the property on which it resides. Habitat goes in and tears out flooring, windows, fixtures, doors, bathrooms, cabinets, and other viable parts of the structure. Everything removed is sold in our ReStore in North Little Rock which is open to the public.

Volunteer opportunities are generally Tuesday – Saturday 9 a.m. -3 p.m.

Volunteer to See Launches Pilot Site

LR SignVolunteer to See launches pilot site in Little Rock, Arkansas.  This innovative program in conjunction with the Little Rock Convention and Visitors Bureau and University of Arkansas Clinton School of Public Service is working to promote “voluntourism” opportunities in the greater Little Rock area.  These programs consist of small volunteer opportunities for families and tourist to engage in while visiting this great city.  The program also provides opportunities for convention guests to be engaged in a service day during their convention’s programs.  These opportunities for guests, tourists and families will help the Little Rock non-profit community by gaining some new and valuable volunteers.   Through Volunteer to See’s unique rewards programs these travelling volunteers will be thanked through gift certificates and rewards to local businesses helping our cities guests to experience the local and eccentric flavors that Little Rock has to offer.

Volunteer to See will be partnering with the following local non-profits:

Youth Home   www.youthhome.org

Arkansas Rice Depot            www.ricedepot.org

Volunteers in Public Schools

Little Rock Public Parks

Ronald McDonald House www.rmhclittlerock.org

Volunteer to See is currently seeking Little Rock businesses to be a part of the rewards program.  This opportunity will allow for local businesses to be displayed in all Volunteer to See literature and show their support for local non-profits.
